What’s wrong with the World?
The Bible tells us that in the beginning when God created the world, he created it good, which is to say it had no problems in it. Then into this perfect world God created man, and told him he could do anything he wished except eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. However, man decided that to rebel against God, and break His commandment, and as a result sin and death entered into the world. (Genesis 1-3)
As a result, sin and death passed onto all people everywhere (Romans 5) The Bible tells us: “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). That means we have all sinned. (Sin includes things like lying, stealing, lusting, hating, blaspheming God’s name etc)
Because of our sin, God is forced to judge us, and the just punishment for our sin is death, both physically and spiritually in eternal hell.
That is the bad news, but the good news is this: “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly” (Romans 5:6). The just punishment for our sin is death, but God sent forth Jesus Christ to die upon the cross for all the sins of those who would come to Him in repentance.
Jesus Christ was killed, and three days later God raised Him from the dead and now He reigns forever more as the King of Glory. And, if we would repent (turn from sin), and place our trust in Him, we can have our sins forgiven. It is because Jesus Christ paid the penalty for sin, that we can be forgiven.
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life…Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” – John 3:16, 36
The question is are you prepared to repent and trust in Jesus Christ alone to save you? Or are you willing to reject Him and continue living a life of sin?
